KOCCHI
A location-sharing radar that answers "which way?" with a single arrow — meetups, family watch-over, and parked-car memory, solved with direction and distance instead of a map.
Meeting up at a festival or a crowded mall, keeping an eye on family living far away, finding the car in a huge parking lot — what you need is rarely a detailed map. It is "which way?". KOCCHI answers that with a single arrow.
Why I built it
Location-sharing apps already exist in abundance. But pinch-zooming a map while wading through a crowd is surprisingly hard, and I kept feeling that the real answer is one-dimensional: "that way, 200 m to go." So I dropped the map entirely and committed to a radar UI — an experience with no room to get lost in.
What I cared about
- A radar UI of nothing but arrow and distance — kilometers when far, meters when close
- Join a group with a single invite code; account friction kept to a minimum
- A one-tap "over here!" signal — meeting up without needing words
- Register home, school, or a parking spot as a target, so it works for places as well as people
- Sharing happens only while the app is open — privacy as a design premise, not an afterthought
What is next
Meetups, watch-over, and stay-together each want a different grain of sharing. I am collecting feedback from real event-season use to find the right fit for each.
